Charity Golfers Welcome!
Choose 1 Day, Play 100 Holes
August 4 or 5, 2022: DetecTogether is excited to announce its participation in this year’s Golf Fights Cancer Million Dollar Golf Marathon. The annual GFC Golf Marathon is a unique fundraising event that mobilizes the power of the golf community to make a difference in the fight against cancer and this year for the first time, the goal for the event is to raise $1 million! Golfers make every swing count as they fundraise to support cancer-related organizations and play 100 holes in one day.
Cheryl McGuire, GFC Executive Director, describes the event this way: “The goal of the day is to play as many holes as possible and have a whole lot of fun doing it. This is not the day to shoot a personal best; instead, gimmies and free drops are plentiful! It’s all about giving back and making a profound difference in the fight against cancer.”
DetecTogether invites golfers of all skill levels to join our team and have a ball while raising funds to support our live-saving work.
In 2021, DetecTogether joined the event for the first time. “Last year’s event was amazing as was the collective power of our fundraisers,” says Brian Oates, GFC Co-Founder. “It’s incredibly inspiring to see the impact that people who share a common interest can make in the fight against cancer.” The Golf Marathon empowers golfers to take concrete and effective action through a sport they love.
“It’s an honor to be invited by Golf Fights Cancer to be part of their first Million Dollar Golf Marathon,” said Tricia Laursen, DetecTogether President & Executive Director. “Last year was our first year participating in the Golf Marathon. Our golfers had an amazing time, and raised critical resources to support our life-saving work. We look forward to another great outing with Golf Fights Cancer.”
DetecTogether was founded to save lives by teaching people how to detect cancer early. While it is undisputed that early cancer detection leads to the best health outcomes, no one was teaching people how to identify early warning signs of cancer. Detecting cancer early is the best way to save and improve the lives of the 40% of us who will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. Now in its second decade, DetecTogether teaches in schools, community groups, and workplaces thanks to the generosity of supporters.
The GFC Million Dollar Golf Marathon will take place on August 4 and 5, 2022 at Juniper Hill Golf Course in Northborough, Mass. If you are interested in joining Team DetecTogether on either day, please contact Janice Fountaine at jan.fountaine@detectogether.org or 508-713-0652.
