Tips on how to prepare yourself as a Group Leader, and outside-the-box approaches to engaging employees.
YOU are the key to encouraging employee engagement! As your company’s “DetecTogether expert”, it is up to you to create excitement and involvement in the 3 Steps Detect program.
Here are some things to consider:
Are any of your employees cancer survivors, or know someone affected by cancer?
- Many of our advocates are motivated to share their story to help others. Getting a quote or short video clip from an employee makes this education personal. Read stories from DetecTogether’s advocates to get some ideas: https://www.detectogether.org/take-action/learn-from-others/
Do you (or your health insurance broker) have a budget for incentives?
- Raffles, gift cards, swag, paid time off, certificates and “bragging rights” are all great motivators! You can make it a friendly competition by granting raffle entries for attendance/course completions, offering door prizes, or contributing to HSAs for highly engaged employees.
What unique ways can you communicate with your employees?
- Does your company have an employee newsletter (printed or online)? Can you display images or short videos on TV screens in break rooms? Can you hang posters near the coffee machine or bathrooms? Use our Tools for Maximizing Engagement to get the message out in as many ways as possible.
