DetecTogether will once again hold its golf tournament and signature event in June. The 2022 DetecTogether Golf Tournament will be played on Monday, June 13. Those participating in the tournament will also be invited to Magic for Humans: A Mind-Blowing Night of Laughs with Justin Willman on Saturday, June 11.
“After two years of canceling or altering our legendary golf tournament, we’re thrilled to be back to a spring event,” says Tricia Laursen, DetecTogether’s President & Executive Director. “The pandemic kept us apart but also propelled our team to develop new ways, including a robust online learning platform, to deliver our life-saving education across the country. We’re excited to come together and celebrate with golf and an awesome evening of laughs.”
Best known as the star and creator of the hit Netflix series Magic For Humans, Justin Willman has appeared many times on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, The Ellen Show and Conan. Willman’s live performance is simultaneously astonishing and hilarious. The Los Angeles Times describes him as, “A new breed of magician making magic cool again,” and Decider says, “He’ll amaze, delight, and shock you in a way that’s sure to have your face sore from smiling.”
Proceeds from the golf tournament and signature event make it possible for DetecTogether to bring its 3 Steps Detect program to firehouses, high schools, colleges, community organizations, and workplaces. The non-profit teaches people how to identify early symptoms of cancer, gives a timeframe for action, and empowers patients to collaborate with their doctors for best health outcomes.
On June 11, Willman will perform for DetecTogether’s most dedicated supporters at The Robert R. Jay Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Saint John’s High School (378 Main St.) in Shrewsbury, Mass. The evening begins at 6 p.m. and includes a spirited reception and opportunity to meet Willman.
The June 13 Golf Tournament will be held at two courses, The Haven Country Club (369 Cross St.) in Boylston, Mass., and Worcester Country Club (2 Rice St.) in Worcester, Mass.
